Versions cancelled: SuperMemo 3.0 for Amiga and SuperMemo 1.0 for Mac have been discontinued and are no longer available. See also: Prospects for a Mac version

Versions that have never been: SuperMemo for Psion (1996)(ditched in development), SuperMemo for Atari ST (1988)(lost), SuperMemo for Atari XL (1988)(lost), eSuperMemo (1999)(student project; not completed), SuperMemo 3 and 4 for DOS (never released commercially), SuperMemo 7 for DOS (ditched in development), Java SuperMemo 2000 (ditched in development), SuperMemo Quizzer (ditched in development), SuperMemo for Linux (Kylix) may not see the light due to porting problems (based on SuperMemo 2000).

Best SuperMemo: Top Five (Mar 2007):

  1. SuperMemo 2006 for Windows - most powerful SuperMemo to-date
  2. SuperMemo 4.0 for Pocket PC - pocket SuperMemo supporting SuperMemo XML data exchange

  3. SuperMemo 2.0 for Palm Pilot - cute SuperMemo on Palm Pilot
  4. On-Line SuperMemo - runs in your web browser (anytime, anywhere)

  5. SuperMemo 98 for Windows - it may be a bit old, but it is free

Footnotes:

  1. Windows Vista: SuperMemo needs unimpeded access to the collection files. This requires a few tweaks in the setup to make SuperMemo run correctly
  2. Windows 2000: SuperMemo 2000 working with Windows 2000 shows minor incompatibilities in RTF text component processing
  3. Windows 95: SuperMemo for Windows may not work correctly in older installations of Windows 95. You may need to install the newest service packs. Installing Internet Explorer 6.0 is necessary
  4. Windows ME: SuperMemo for Windows shows performance problems in Windows ME. These, among others, result from a different file caching in Windows ME as well as a memory leak bug documented in Windows ME. Before you decide to order, please download a working-model version (identical problems show up in SuperMemo 98 through SuperMemo 2004). There are no plans for a dedicated version for Windows ME
(Walter Cook, Saturday, July 21, 2001 7:20 PM)
Question:
Will you have a version of SuperMemo 2000 for Windows ME out soon or have you developed a workaround solution for it?
Answer:
Currently a dedicated version for Windows ME is not planned. There is a likelihood of improved performance with new component library coming with the release of Delphi 6 (compiler used to develop SuperMemo for Windows). Another hope comes from Microsoft patches that could resolve incompatibility and memory leak problems (see: Memory leak bug in Windows ME). Otherwise, the only solution for now is to try a demo of SuperMemo for Windows and decide if performance problems disqualify the product

Prospects for SuperMemo for Mac are not good
(Sneha Desai, Non-Profit Organisation, Fri, Jul 05, 2002 4:04)
Question:
Is there a Mac version of SuperMemo planned?
Answer:
Due to little customer interest, the Mac version was terminated back in 1995. Currently, no company is formally committed to develop an alternative. The main limitation is the difficulty to predict if the development investment would pay back
